DANIEL FAST

  • RRTEC 3321 North Lewis Avenue Tulsa, OK, 74110 United States (map)

Over the next 21 days, we as a church are committing to setting aside our mealtimes for prayer, reading God’s word, and intercession.  God is waiting to establish His Kingdom on earth through a partnership with His people!

RRTEC FASTING GUIDE →

Focus: Growing in Maturity and Living Actively While You Wait

Biblical Origin of The Daniel Fast: Daniel 10: 1-14

Why Fast?

  • Fast so as not to be driven by our appetites.

  • Fast to align our hearts to do God’s will, and not to twist God's Arms.

  • Fast to show our utter dependence.

  • Fast to express our individual or collective repentance.

During the fast: Refrain from sweets, meats, starchy foods, and caffeine. Drink lots of water, cranberry juice without sugar, mint tea or non-caffeinated beverages.

Ending the Fast: Slow return to normal diet. Begin with raw vegetables, salads, light broth, etc.

Recommendation: Set aside time to Read, Meditation, and Memorize the Word of God & Pray alone and with others.

I believe that this year God is calling us to deeper levels of trust in Him, and a maturity that is revealed in the way we live while we wait on Him to answer our prayers or respond to unpleasant life circumstances. Patiently waiting is living actively in the present while waiting (Rich Villodas, 2025). It is not passively hoping that God will jump in to rescue you like you want in every circumstance. How will you wait this year? Will you anchor your faith and trust in full confidence and assurance that God is always with you?

Over the next three weeks, be intentional and specific in your prayers. Listen to God without all the noise in the background. Commit to being a better Kingdom Representative. Grow in grace and in the knowledge of The Lord Jesus Christ and make provision for the spirit. You (and I) will be better equipped to make Christ known, when we know Him intimately.

CORPORATE PRAYER:

Our Heavenly Father, as a community of believers, we come to thank you for loving us and not alienating us from your Kingdom. We confess that we have sinned against you and others through our faults. Lord Jesus, we thank you for access to the Kingdom through your life, death, burial, and resurrection. Holy Spirit, thank you for opening our eyes so that we might see the way to God’s Kingdom and for leading and guiding us into all truths concerning the Kingdom of Heaven. Father, we commit to partnering with you to establish your kingdom in our homes, the North Tulsa community, and everywhere you send us. We desire to know you intimately and to make you had known to those we meet. Grant us wisdom as we study your word that we make live by the Truths you reveal to us as we journey to your Eternal Kingdom. In Christ Jesus’ name. Amen!
